TanDEM-X satellite will be launched in the early morning on 21st June at the Baikonur Cosmodrome in Kazakhstan. The satellite is due to be launched in to orbit at an altitude over 500 kilometers.
TanDEM-X forms a twin satellite constellation with an earlier launched TerraSAR-X. Payload of these satellites is an X-band SAR (Synthetic Aperture Radar). Satellites produce high resolution 3D images of the surface of the earth. The data is used to follow land usage and to predict and follow nature catastrophes.
DA-Design has provided very stable and accurate radar signal distribution units to divide transmit signals and combine receive signals of the radar, Leaf Amplifier Assemblies. Similar distribution units are used to divide the radar calibration signal. The units are thermally stable passive microstrip 1:6 power divider/combiner units and waveguide magic-t hybrids.
